Not too advanced. :-)Keys are 6=down, 7=up, 9=thrust, 0=fire, space=quit.PROBLEMS WITH THE PORTThe most obvious is that only a third of the screen is updated(from the ZX81 display) each frame. This gives quite a goodframerate, but the staggered drawing can make it look odd, andit can have unpleasant interactions with the movement of yourship etc. so that things can flicker, appear twice, or have ashearing effect. Hopefully this isn't too noticeable given howfast the game is :-), but it can make the collision detectionlook more unfair than it really is.The 32-line screen had to be squashed to fit in the unavoidablyfixed 24 lines the speccy allows. The top and bottom pixel linesof each line of characters are skipped, which results in adistorted display.I think the sound is an octave or more out, due to the differentAY clock used on the speccy. And the QS sound board providesfor lower tone and noise periods than the speccy can manage. Butit's still worth having as it is, IMHO.The game is slightly faster than on the ZX81, though not bymuch.Finally, when the game ends any AY sound is left going. Thisisn't a problem with the emulation though, it does just the sameon the ZX81.WHY QS DEFENDA?To be honest, while the game's not bad, it isn't really a bigfavourite of mine. The two main reasons I 'ported' it were:- it uses a really weird display (31x32 characters!) which most ZX81 emulators have problems with even if they support it;- the original QS Defenda itself supports AY sound, believe it or not, through the QS sound board. As far as I know only z81 supports this, and even then you have to explicitly enable it.This version copes with both, albeit imperfectly.WHY IS IT 128-SPECIFIC?ZX81 programs run in the 4000-7FFFh area of memory.
